It’s given me more power and control over my board it may have taken time for the system to to adjust but it is worth it
Backfire is continuing improving the products. The ESC is Hobbywing/Backfire customized program ESC which best fit Backfire electric skateboards. It is the best to select the ESC based on the specific Backfire Model.
Since Dec. 2023, we have updated G2 Black Esc in the G2 Black 2023 model, it contains the same Hobbywing esc inside, but the Esc enclosure and power button are improved and updated. It does NOT fit the original G2 Black deck due to the enclosure shape is different with screw pattern. Please select the right model if you need order for replacement.
Between June 2020 and Nov. 2023, Backfire updated ESC enclosure for the product lines on hand now. The ESC enclosure still fits the original deck and matches the screw holes but with some major differences：
- new esc enclosure works with a smaller power button than the old enclosure.
- new esc enclosure has a bigger heat sink plate
- new esc enclosure has rubber seals and back cover.
- new esc enclosure has two holes for the cable to connect with the motor cables and works with the 9 pin cables perfectly. But if you want to use the new esc enclosure with your old esc and motor cables with MR30 plugs, you have to modify it or remove the rubber seal on the back holes to get the wires through.
- With the new esc enclosure and 9 pin cables, you could plug and unplug the esc and motors without take off the esc from the deck. While with the old esc enclosure and old-style motor wires with MR30 connector, you have to take off the esc enclosure from the deck before you can connect or disconnect the wires between esc and motors.

- Might NOT compatible with other brands due to different programs
- MR30 connector motors will not work with the new style ESC with the 9 pin connector. People who got their boards before June 2020 all have the MR30 connectors. While people who bought their boards after June 2020 will mostly have the 9 pin connectors. Please verify before purchase.
- The XT60 connector to the board & battery remains the same

- MR30 connector normally is in yellow color on the end , like the one in the photo below.
- 9 pin connector is a single cable with 9 pin on the end like in the photo below.

Perfect, good quality
Delivery was quick and the battery was easy to install.
My zealot s2 has been great up until this point. My remote isn’t connecting to my board. The board has been well taken care of. never been ridden in the rain, I was out riding and it randomly wouldn’t connect to the board when I turned it off. I don’t know what the issue is. Everything is powering on and working my remote won’t pair to the board for some reason if anyone could help let me know. I spent too much on this board for this to happen. Has this happened to anyone else ??
Ended up still having board over current errors on my remote. It's costing me more to repair this board compared to buying it new sadly...
The board is great when it works! BUT! apparently a common problem is the ESC goes out within months even if you take great care of the board, customer service only Offered me discount to buy the new ESC, $70) Don’t feel like I should charged to fix a barely used new skateboard when it was not my fault it stopped working. Buy the extended warranty! You’ll need it before you know it! Upgrade the wheels also. I have yet to but I hear the bigger ones make a big difference. Good luck!

The replacement ESC got me back up and running
My previous ESC failed but the customer service was pretty quick and understanding and got me a new one within two weeks
Easy Installation of the Upgraded ESC and my current Remote synced to it seamlessly. New Trucks and Motor Hubs with the NEW 9PIN Connection installed in a few minutes. I am very satisfied and am back on the Road again... Thanks Backfire.

Board would not power on at one month old. Emailed at 7pm and had a response in 2 hours and a new part shipped the next morning. 3 days later part arrived and I followed the instructions in the video they sent and was back up and running. Great customer service.

A great replacement to get my laycon board back up and running
My zealot was starting to get a little banged up on the bottom right around the ESC and the power button eventually the remote wouldn't pair anymore but it would still turn on and everything so I decided to get a new ESC and a new remote ordered it looked it all up worked fine for about 20 minutes now my battery is shot it won't put out any power not to the USB port not to the ESC won't turn on not even with the old ESC won't turn on now so something in that new ESC fried mild battery cuz it worked fine before and I'm not paying for a new battery too expensive can't afford it so I sent the ESC back and the remote but tech support was really awesome and they didn't ask any questions and they took my return promptly I'm just waiting for my refund thank you and have a great day.
Works fine. Only thing I noticed is that the button’s protective coating tore really easily.
After over 2000 miles my Zealot S was acting up a bit. I figured it was the esc. I placed an order and had a new one within 3 days! Awesome customer service. It totally fixed the problem and I'm ready for another 2000+ miles. Very happy!

The esc came in a stable box, nice and safe. The only thing is that the antenna didn't come with the the paper that keeps the tape sticky but that is not a problem. Great service 🤟
Ordered the wrong ESC by mistake, but shipping and returns processes were fast and easy. Would buy from Backfire again.
I didn't want to buy this, however I was forced to. I had intended to simply buy a replacement hub motor. This turned out to be incompatible as it had the new 9pin connector. Customer support has been the worst experience I've ever had with any vendor. Every bit of support suggest that I pay for yet another undisclosed component for the upgrade, each time asking me to pay exorbitant shipping charges and import charges. Instructions are not only incomplete but non existent. Avoid Backfire. This experience has ruined my opinion of them.
When I bought my 600w hub motors from Backfire to upgrade my G3, they lacked to tell me that I would also need an upgraded enclosure to run the motors. Needless to say, when I reached out they immediately got back to me, and compensated me for it. Never’ve had a problem with the enclosure. It has taken some hits while riding through rough terrain but never overheats or gives me grief so I’m happy.
I needed a replacement after accidentally going through a puddle. Works great and I'd reccommend taking a photo of the original connections BEFORE you unplug evrrything- it's easy to mix up left and right.
Ordered a 32kv ESC, received a 33kv ESC and have waited 4 days for a reply from customer support, but they asked for a review so here ya go. Prob be 5 stars if I had gotten the correct ESC, but I’ll just have to wait another few weeks to get back on my board.

Upgraded from the stock Zealot ESC to the “S” version of the ESC. So nice to not have to bend down to turn the board on!

Bought this esc/motor set for my first diy and went back and bought another one recently for a 3rd build.
Not a valid replacement for the ol g3 but i guess it still rides
