Electric Skateboard vs. Regular Skateboard & Longboard

Are you struggling to choose between a standard model and a battery-powered longboard? Today, we’re going to help you decide which one is better suited to your needs, or to those of the person you’re buying for. It’s an electric board vs. longboard showdown—let’s do this.

Distance

Determine how far you’ll regularly want to go on your longboard. Will you be traveling around the block, a few miles, or 10 miles? Could you go that distance while having to physically push yourself there, or would it make more sense to be pushed by the longboard itself?

Note: If you choose a battery-powered longboard, you’ll want to pay close attention to the range offered by each model’s charging capacity. You’ll also want to also consider the boards hill-climbing abilities, motor wattage, and speed, especially if you live in an area with plenty of inclines.

Difficulty

For those of you who are just starting out on longboards, we highly recommend that you start with a non-electric board. Why? Well, a non-electric board lets you practice the balancing act that keeps you, you know, actually on the board. For those seasoned pros, a battery-powered longboard will allow you to go on longer and faster adventures.

Non-electric boards that are meant for cruising are easier to ride for beginners. Avoid downhill boards when first starting out. Also, beginners should look out for durable materials, so you know the board itself can take a beating if you happen to fall off it a lot when first starting out, which you will. Durable materials like bamboo and maple are ideal. Season pros can consider carbon fiber decks.

So, who won the battle of electric boards vs. longboards for you? Either way, when you order your board from us, you’ll get quality customer service, a 180-day warranty, and a whole new list of adventures available to you. Now that you know what type of longboard you want, go find the model that’s right for you. There’s no time to waste.
